I arrived too early to the scene for the hipster bike modders, that probably arrived fashionably later.
But the Puerto Rico Schwinn Club dominated Havermeyer and Grand with their chomed, beautifully restored and modded bikes, and gave me plenty to shoot.
Imagine yourself behind the wheel.
Definitely the slickest shave-ice cart I’ve ever seen.
Times-up was there doing bike repairs, but not much other than vending was happening when I arrived. These hand-painted helmets are lovely, and reasonably priced. bellehelmets.com

Osprey over Williamsburg Bridge

I happened to be right at the apex of the Williamsburg Bridge when I heard an extreme bass thrumming, I knew it was something unusual. I looked north. Two Osprey helicopters heading right at me is more than unusual. I barely had time to get my camera out and aim where I hoped it would be, as this military helicopter went directly overhead. When I first saw them approaching from the north their rotors were in the vertical position, pulling them along like a prop aircraft. As they went overhead the blades went horizontal. Part of Fleet Week, I’m sure.

These guys are not going to stop until every square inch of East Houston Street has been dug, paved and re-dug again several times. This go round involves Con-Ed. I’m not sure if these are gas lines or electrical conduits.
