Eddie’s Cross

Eddie's Cross
This stump of the tree is all that is left of the Toy Tower. The little You Tube video about it that I intended to be ten minutes long, has turned into a relatively massive project possibly an hour long. I hope to have it ready for showing in a week or so.

PS 20 Parrot

PS 20 Parrot

I know there are wild parrots in Brooklyn but this might the first on the Lower East Side. It’s been squawking to itself all morning. Is it someone’s lost pet? It is very hard to see against the leafy background, I passed by it twice before I could see it. From its squawk I first thought it was a crow.

Ol’ Jackasses

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Crazy street stunts in the Roaring Twenties in NYC and San Francisco. The cab driver is Harold Lloyd, the passenger Babe Ruth. The segment with the racing horse drawn bus is insane.

Giraffe

Giraffe
One of the few toys that made the trip down from the top of the tower apparently undamaged. It seems to be one of the carousel animals Eddie had there.

Toy Tower Topped

Monday, May 19th, 2008

The famous Tower of Toys by Eddie Boros is being taken down. I’m working on a much longer video about the tower and Eddie, which will probably be done in a week or so. I wanted to get this bit up while it is still fresh news.
Part one and two of the full video here

Toy Cross

They started taking down the Toy Tower this morning around 9. Most of the toys were dropped, many broke. (more…)

Leaning Tower of Toys

Leaning Tower of Toys
Perhaps this shot shows the lean more viscerally. I’m starting to think that it may come down on its own. The removal by the Parks Department may have been delayed by the wet weather today. But the rain may be exacerbating the lean, making mud of the soil beneath the tower. And on second look the eastern base is flimsier than I was thinking. Who knows maybe only the roots of the tree it is built around is holding the tower up. Photo from around 2 this afternoon.
