Via e-mail: "I want to thank you
for posting the pictures of the NION protest today at the UN. I live in KY and could not be there in body…I was there in spirit…as were millions just like me, I’m sure. Pictures truely are like a thousand words. – A mother against war in KY"

I returned for the 4 PM Not In Our Name rally.

I’d estimate about 500 very chilly people were there in Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, East 47th Street and First Avenue.

Malachi Mccourt gets the crowd to sing.

Many young people came, including some who bussed in from Philadelphia.

These drummers are made of sterner stuff than I, they knelt and kept a steady beat for the entire event, and their clothes don’t look half as warm as mine. It was 12 degrees with a cutting breeze that made it feel even colder.

I took my new digital camera out with me this afternoon to get a picture of this blot on the Loisaida skyline. I mean I used to be able to look down Avenue A and see the sky, now I see this. This neighborhood is getting way too crowded for its own good.

Panorama shot from my rooftop.

I continued down Ave. A and when I reached Houston Street at approximately 2:10 PM, I noticed above me several jets all starting to leave bright contrails at the same time. They were everywhere I looked, not just these four, maybe eight trails in all. They continued to leave distinct trails all the way across the sky, like the one below, shot a few minutes later facing east on Houston Street. Unfortunately I didn’t capture the continuation of the four trails above. |
|
What makes me wonder is that if these were normal contrail they should not all have abruptly appeared at once, but have been visible following behind the jets as they approached. But I must say they didn’t linger, and the sky did not haze up, as I hear is characteristic of chemtrails. And the weather here has been very cold which I imagine is conducive to the formation of your normal ol’ icy condensation vapor trails. So once again, I don’t know what is going on. But this new camera is light enough to take with me everywhere. I’ll keep my eyes open for any further clues.

I was listening to George Noory last night. Noory has replaced Art Bell on Coast to Coast AM. He suggested an experiment for his audience, to meditate on peace. His guest was Fred Alan Wolf, a physicist who conducts research on the relationship of quantum physics to consciousness. Here’s an image that came up in this Metafilter discussion that I think is appropriate to meditate upon. |

Ordinary jet aircraft vapor trails are made from ice crystals and disperse quickly. Chemtrails are reputedly some secret government opertation spreading unknown chemicals from the back of military aircraft. Chemtrails are said to hang and spread, turning the sky from clear to hazy. Some say it is a weather modification project. I have no idea what the real story is, but these photos are pretty strange. |

Transcribed from the video of Clara Sinclair before she was injured during the civil disobedience near Lafayette Park (She is kneeling in the street): "I am a Quaker….I believe we are wrong to try to go to war with a country as small and as week… We are strong and our strength is in our spirit, and this is no way to show our spirit to the world….I want to do civil disobedience. I’m 83 years old and I still believe there is a way to peace and I’ve come to be a part of it…It’s putting my body on the line, not just my mind, not just my thoughts. I’ve done this for a number of years now (laughs). I believe in the principle of peace." On DC Indymedia also a video by Barry R. Student interviewing witnesses to the incident. |

How the Press Downplayed the Protests – Deceptions and Illusions – By Wayne Madsen in Counterpunch |

I emailed Brian, remarking that he got in quite close to the action, and asked if he was threatened with arrest himself. He replied: "I was close to Clara when they knocked her down, for the rest of the photos I was either on the sidewalk or behind the police line shooting with a wide zoom, so I was in the "approved zone;" and although it didn’t stop the police from pushing me back a few times, I wasn’t threatened with arrest." |
