Scaffolding going up on a corner storefront long unoccupied. Known as the crazy landlord building in the neighborhood, because of the for rent signs posted by “crazy landlord.” Who knows what it means.

I’ve been enjoying using the Autostitch demo to make impromptu panoramas as I walk around the neighborhood. The biggest challenge is dealing with moving pedestrians and traffic. Traffic is a bit easier as I can often depend on them staying immobile at the stoplight. In this one the crowd is twinned. Judicious cropping of the originals also helps to avoid pedestrian ghosting. I used Photoshop to clone the sky, adjust the colors and tweak the perspective. I used to use Photoshop exclusively to create panoramas, but letting Autostitch deal with the blending and perspective is much easier. All the panos were shot hand-held, not with a tripod.
You can do cropping and color adjustment in the excellent free program Irfan View.
New York Songlines is a great resource for identifying the various buildings in the photo.
On the left at 6th Street is Block Drugs, further right is the former location of the Fillmore East, Moishe’s Bake Shop is at 115, looking west on 7th you can see the Sculpture for Living, Between Seventh Street and St Marks is B&H Dairy restaurant, where you can get great soups.
