I’ve been calling it the Beekman Tower because I think any building that juts into your local sky, you get to name. But it is officially 8 Spruce Street. Other amenity include a swimming pool on the 50th floor. I’m being snarky, but it is a beautiful building, sculptural, sleek and definitely not boring. It has the feel of the science fiction future of the Zeppelin moment a few years back. People are living there already. Seventy six stories, they must have a spectacular view. Shot from my six story tenement roof.
Frank Gehry: Dizzy heights

My neighbors put on a spectacular show this evening. I haven’t seen a such a large fireworks display in the neighborhood in maybe 20 years.

As usual the Macy’s Hudson River show was barely visible from my East Village roof. This shot is from the finale and is as grand as it got.

Looking southwest from my Lower East Side roof. The fluffy clouds caught my eye.

That’s the skeleton of the Hotel Ludlow on the left, which has remained idle for about two years now.

It will be interesting to see the Beekman Tower’s profile without the scaffolding
