Hawk's Dinner
I saw this Redtail Hawk fly from half-way across the park in a high tree branch to the center of the Oval Garden and catch this large rat.

This is about a tenth of a second before the hawk took off to eat its prey on a branch of a nearby elm.

  1. I can only imagine dessert!

  2. AMAZING shot! I hope they don’t use rat poison in TSP…. otherwise those birds are dead already.

  3. Amazing shot Gamma. Why do you think it is not phased by being so close to people? I have never seen a bird of prey so indifferent to people in the UK.

  4. I think they are used to it, they always have a crowd observing their dining, and people keep a respectful distance.

  5. Nice shots of this juvenile RTH, Michael. The person looking at the bird is a friend and would probably like to have the image.
