Shot by Robert M. Young and Edward James Olmos on a trip to the heart of the oil spill in the Gulf. Edited by Stephen Cohen.
Robert Young and I jumped on a plane and went to the Gulf of Mexico just to lend our support by documenting what we saw…
Well, the people that we met took up all of our time. It was brutal! I was not ready for the human aspect because no one had prepared me for it.
I thought they would be angry. They are devastated. Take a look at this video and see for yourself. People are afraid to talk and you will learn why watching this… Please pass it on, recommend it. If you feel like doing something, just go down there (anywhere on the Gulf) and support by spending time and energy in the region. They need our support. Thank you for Caring.

The crane barge has moved a bit south of where it was a couple of weeks ago, but mysteriously it has left the pilings still unfinished.
The East River Promenade is still closed below Houston Street, though amenities in that closed stretch, such as more park benches, have been added since my last report. If you stay here for any length of time you will see many joggers and bikers disappointingly staring at this fence. There is no exit here, you need to go north four blocks to get out.
A tribute to Skateboarder Andy Kessler.
I took this photo on May 11, I haven’t seen her since. A neighbor whose apartment overlooks the cemetery hasn’t seen her in a couple of weeks. I don’t think her wing have healed enough for her to wander off by herself. But she was able to reach adjacent rooftops by scrambling up nearby trees. So I guess she could have maybe headed to Tompkins Square or some nearby back garden. Here’s hoping she is doing well.
