Appellate Division Courthouse

Tuesday, April 12th, 2005
“Appellate Division Courthouse (1900). Italian Renaissance style; much care was lavished on the building’s exterior and interior art, including statues of famous lawgivers and civic virtues. (There’s an empty pedestal for Mohammed, whose statue was removed after Muslims pointed out that they find such representations idolatrous.) Landmark laws were declared constitutional here in a precedent-setting 1975 case.” – New York Songlines

The Mohammed statue must have been at the upper right corner of the building. The flag in the above photo was at half staff for the death of Pope John Paul II.

Every law not based on wisdom is a menace to the state. These two imposing statues flank the 25th Street entrance.

“We must not use force till just laws are defied. Is it just me or does this guy look not that bright?
