Air America Radio

Air America Radio the new liberal talk network with Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo is on the air and streaming from their site. In NYC it is on - WLIB 1190 AM

Michael Moore was on Franken’s first show. Moore apologized live to Al (”Mr President”) Gore for Moore’s support of Nader in 2000. Franken was funny, but he seems a bit awkward. That’s understandable, trying to fill three hours of radio is not an easy task. He’ll loosen up as he gets more experience.

Randi Rhodes follows his show. She started out interviewing Greg Palast. Her radio technique is much slicker, it’s high energy and pretty funny. She just did an ambush interview on Ralph Nader, yelling at him for running for prez this year. He tried to get his talking points in there for about ten minutes and then hung up.

Open Source Touchscreen Voting

The Open Voting Consortium (OVC), a nonprofit group with several Bay Area members, recently announced the development of touchscreen voting machine software that uses open source and creates a voter verified paper trail. Recently completed, the software is set to be publicly tested this Thursday, April 1, at the Santa Clara County government offices in San Jose.

OVC’s system, currently in software form only, can be used on regular desktop PCs hooked up to a touchscreen monitor and a standard printer. Like the touchscreen machines now in use, the OVC unit records the vote electronically. But unlike Diebold’s machines, the OVC system also automatically produce a paper receipt, which is intended to be the official tally. To ensure accuracy, the paper count is then reconciled against the electronic one stored on the machines. Via Linkfilter

NYC in Pictures

NYC in Pictures. This site claims to have photos of “Every Building In NYC” This is not literally true, but it’s pretty damn close. The organization leave a bit to be desired, but if you are persistent you most likely will find a thumbnail image of whatever building you are looking for. It’s part of the Virtual Reality NYC database
