Unsilent Night meets Santacon. I took my aging VHS camera to Phil Kline’s great annual musical event, Unsilent Night. Phil Kline’s piece, using masses of the public to march with boomboxes playing his specially made tapes, is ethereal, cosmic and beatific. Santacon
is a bunch of anarchistic Burning Man types shouting HO HO HO and bar-hopping to oblivion! Their accidental/serendipitous intersection in Washington Square Park was a great New York moment. I’m making a Flash movie from the video I shot. The video capture stills below will give you some idea of what went on, but the combination with the audio should help bring them to life.
