Swoon Phoenix Abides
Swoon Mural - Lower East Side
Swoon is a Brooklyn based street artist who is best known for her paper cutouts or carvings, as she called them in my interview with her in 2003. This movie takes you through the changes on this mural from 2003 to 2007.

Swoon Mural Timeline
Soldier for Nomads
As documented by Irena Kittenclaw , this Swoon mural had been defaced by some numbnutz with “Sold to MOMA” a reference to the recent aquisition of one of her pieces by the Museum of Modern Art. Someone else cleverly came along and modified it to say “Soldier for Nomads.” I’m not quite sure what that means but I think it expresses support for Swoon.
Vines
![]() |
| Vines swirling around the same Swoon print I featured yesterday. I’m not sure what’s going on here. I think the vines were there before she pasted this print yesterday, but some of the vines are on top of the print. She could have repainted the vines, or maybe it is a collaboration or jam. Detail of vine.
Update: It is a collaboration between Swoon and a friend of her’s who signs spark. He took the heavens and she drew the earth. They met in the middle. |
