The continued cat and mouse game being played out on this mural continues to amuse. The gallery replaced the sheet rock with plywood to curb the enthusiasm of the hole kickers.

I think those black squares are patches of kicked in holes, I’ve heard about but not seen. The mural has a certain wild charm now, but it sure looks beat.

Graffiti cleaner hired by Deitch Gallery. Whatever he is using (it was in a Fantastik spray bottle but smelled more potent) works fairly well on the white background but does little to the black outline.

Houston Street and Bowery.

I’m not sure why Shepard Fairey’s Bowery and Houston Street mural, got this stop work order, when the Os Gemeos and the Keith Haring re-creation, did not. I guess the city considers it a commercial billboard for Deitch Gallery, who also sponsored the other two murals.

Or maybe it is the anti-authoritarian tone that got some official riled.

This one is on the wall of the Spaceship Hotel on the Bowery.
