Bob and Angie in the Studio

Friday, February 5th, 2010

My brother Bob is a Myrtle Beach celebrity, at least among the easy listening crowd of WEZV in Myrtle Beach, SC. I took my camera along to watch him record the inserts for his weekend shows. He is assisted by my lovely and talented niece Angelina. Listen live.

Randi Rhodes Live Stream KTLK

Randi Rhodes Live Stream on KTLK 3-6 PM Eastern

I can’t listen to Randi live on NYC radio anymore. This stream from KTLK AM in Los Angeles is fairly reliable, though it sometimes crashes Firefox and seems not to like having other browser windows open. I’ll look for other sources. Mike Malloy, Rachel Maddow, Stephanie Miller and Thom Hartman are also stream.

Sirius/XM – Seriously Lame

Monday, December 1st, 2008

I’m a Howard Stern addict. There, I’ve said it. I got Sirius radio because of that addiction. I’m still addicted, and I’m not likely to cancel my subscription to the one remaining satellite radio. But the merger has ravaged the music programming. Sirius had real people picking the music they liked, playing it, and telling you why they liked it. Now much of that is gone. Vin Scelsa is still there, and other favorites may be getting to shuffle their shows on other channels… maybe. But “The Loft” is nothing like “Sirius Disorder”. And from tooling up and down the 87 music channels, the prevalent philosophy at Sirious-XM now seems to be that centralized programming (computers) and playlists are cheaper than people. The same philosophy that killed broadcast radio.

Nailin’ Palin

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

Marc-Antoine Audette and Sebastien Trudel, aka “The Masked Avengers” prank-call Sarah Palin, with a Pepé Le Pew accent, leading her to think she was talking to French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The best part is that they couldn’t get her to hang up before they ran out of material.

I think McCain must be a secret Obama supporter. Why else would the 72 year-old candidate choose such an obvious ditz as VP.

FNS: Well, ah, I hope for you. You know we have a lot in common because personally one of my favorite activities is to hunt too.
SP: [Giggle]o h very good, we should go hunting together.

FNS: Exactly! We could go try hunting by helicopter, like you did, I never did that.
SP: [Giggle]

FNS: Like we say in France, “on pourrait tuer des bébés phoques aussi” [Translation: We could also kill some baby seals.]
SP: [Giggle] Well I think we could have a lot of fun together as we’re getting work done, we can kill two birds with one stone that way.

FNS: I just love killing those animals. Mm, mm. Take away a life, that is so fun!
SP: [Hahahaha]

FNS: I’d really love to go as long as we don’t bring your Vice president Cheney, hahaha.
SP: No, I’ll be a careful shot, yes.

FNS: I must say, Governor Palin, I love the documentary they made on your life, you know, Hustler’s “Nailin Palin.”
SP: Oh, good, thank you. Yes.

FNS: That was really edgy.
SP: [Laughs] Well good.

Billi Kid endorses Obama

Billi Kid endorses Obama
Believe it or not the campaign has just begun. The Democratic convention starts tonight. I am hoping the Hillary drama will be handled gracefully. I am curious to see if my fave, Kucinich, will get to make an appearance.  And I want to hear Obama and Biden’s speeches. I hope they are going to pitch a progressive strategy to get us out or our current mess. As opposed to the losing strategy of pandering to the right.

PBS is carrying it tonight.  Randi Rhodes will no doubt do excellent pre-game coverage this afternoon, live from the convention.

Nova M stream on KPHX, Arizona ads and all. Hear Randi Rhodes live 3 – 6 Eastern time. Mike Malloy, Stephanie Miller, Rachel Madow and Thom Hartmann also on the stream. KPHX website
