Santa Bast

Thursday, December 16th, 2004
Bast with a Santa beard. My guess is that Bast did it
him/herself.
Though the technique (stencil on cut-paper) looks similar to this paper-cutter, who has been pasting in the neighborhood near Swoon prints.

Polaroid Scene

Friday, July 30th, 2004
Polaroid Scene poster- Pretty bland as street art, but the site is chock full of fun polaroid photos, mostly of young party-goers mugging for the camera. The thumbs page takes forever to load, and captions are non-existent. But the pictures tell their own story. This group of photos is titled Shepard Crushed NYC. It shows someone apparently from the Obey – Andre the Giant crew putting up varied pieces.

Bast -marker on pasted paper?

Interesting graffiti window, Ludlow Street near Rivington. I like the Bast pieces on the top. And more of those printed plaques.

Boop

Rubinesque RB827 Betty Boop with eyes weeping blood. Plymouth Street, Dumbo.
I’m not sure of the technique, but I think it is a painting done on wood.
Betty again and Bast. Front Street, Dumbo.

Bast

Thursday, February 19th, 2004
After seeing that Bast poster being scraped-away yesterday, I think to grab some shots of them while I can. He has skills as a photo-collage printer, and a definite style (Vaguely ominous political posters, from some imaginary country lost-in-time). That’s about all this series of prints ever said to me. But they are growing on me, as they slowly disintegrate into their walls, something I always liked, how they blended near seamlessly into where pasted. Most of the images he uses look like clip-art or photos of some obscure historic figure, but this one sure looks like Saddam. – East Fourth Street, near Avenue A.
