I wore a John Kerry mask in the 2004 Greenwich Village Halloween parade. It's a lousy mask. I got the half-mask because I wanted to be able to speak, not wrap my head in sweaty rubber, and spend less than half what a full mask costs. But my resemblance to John Kerry was marginal at best. So I just about had to knock people over their heads with my "Kerry in a Landslide" sign in order for them to even know who I was supposed to be. But somehow the kids seemed to know instantly, and they treated me like a rock star. Reaching out to touch me and shouting Kerry, Kerry, Kerry, with inflection rising almost to a squeal. |

| Earlier I saw two young women in cop outfits faux-corralling some of the real cops in orange construction webbing, the technique the cops used during the RNC demonstrations. It was funny, gutsy and done with good humor. I think this is one of them. |
