Halloween in NYC 2002
11 square yards of bubble wrap went into the construction of Igo Yugotoo. Using bubble wrap helps make it safe for me to dance around in a crowd without risking hurting anyone. Costume sitting in my studio, just before the parade. Out with the old Igo Yugotoo. Click these thumbnails for full size images and captions. Quick loading Flash animation of puppet while still in design stage.
Igo was happy to be out in the open air. The illusion works best from the front, but it's still pretty good from the side. My face was more visible than I thought it would be through layers of veil. These guys insisted on getting in the picture. Resting in Union Square
Igo gets a smile. Everybody liked Igo. Kids like to grab Igo's hands and not let go. Some folks are not sure if they want to shake Igo's hand. This glamourous cop gave Igo a smile. I'm glad I brought the camera to get these crowd reactions.
Ghost or pillow? Drummers in a great Samba band. Latest Milk spokesmodel or Artie Lang? Anyone you want to be for the night. Half dead and King Happy. Some folks got to ride in their costume.
Politics happens. John Waters New American Idol audition? No pictures please. Nun Evil clowns or is that redundant?
These skeleton puppets or variations of them have been in many parades. More Skeleton Puppets from Superior Concept Monsters Snake controlled by a line of puppeteers. A drummer to accompany the snake. These puppets danced in circular patterns. More circle dancers.
Great Tyranosaurus puppet operated by one person. Giant hags (or something like that) G Dubya? These earthy globes roll down the street.
