Jicama California Street Food. I saw none of the usual NYC street fair dreck.
Get your pickled oyster shooters at the Maiden Lane booth. Note: my good friend Dave Drinkwater is one of the owners.
Maiden Lane hopes to resurrect the spirit of the legendary Life Cafe at the northeast corner of Tompkins Square Park. Its logo is a lifesaver.
Roberta’s Pizza had quite an impressive portable oven.
Marty wants to occupy his legal wall for the E&S Deli on Essex Street with images that will inspire and amuse the kids in the grade school across the street. He was painting the wall which is right next to the Clayton Gallery last night during the Portal unveiling.
The Children’s Magical Garden on the Lower East Side of Manhattan is in a battle with a developer who claims about half of their space. This is the preparation for a party to raise funds and awareness about their situation.
The Macy’s fireworks on the Hudson, shot fully zoomed in and at a ten second exposure. It was much less impressive to the naked eye here on the Lower East Side.
Several people in the neighborhood were shooting off fireworks. Someone even let loose a Chinese lantern. Probably not that dangerous with all the rain we’ve been having but potentially disastrous. I have very unimpressive blurry video of it, I can sympathize with UFO photographers trying to get a clear shot of whatever it is they see in the dark.
The tag WOMP seems appropriate, like a cartoon sound effect for fireworks.
