The bulldozers are coming! The Bulldozers are Coming! The rules that have preserved community gardens for the past ten years are about to expire. Time to contact the politicians again.

1. Call and write the Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, 311 or
212-639-9675, fax 212-312-0700,

member and tell him/her to ” preserve our community gardens – make

2. Attend the August 10th, 2010 Public Hearing of the Department of
Parks & Recreation and Department of Housing Preservation and
Development’s Proposed Rules governing Green Thumb Community Gardens
at the Chelsea Recreation Center at 11 a.m. on August 10, 2010 at
Chelsea Recreation Center
at 430 West 25th Street in Manhattan at 11:00 a.m., and speak in favor
of protection for community gardens. If you would like to testify,
please notify Associate Counsel, Ms. Laura LaVelle via telephone at
212-360-1335 or email at [email protected] by August 9.

3. Come on the Paul Revere Bike Ride – The Developers Are Coming!
July 29th, 7 p.m. (Thursday)- Meet at Tompkins Square Park.

4. First “Save Our Gardens BBQ/Potlock” – Recurring Saturday BBQs at
Generation X… July 31, 4 p.m., (Saturday), 4th Street between Ave B and Ave C. Please bring food, friends, family, garden stories -
prepare for fun!

5. Come to the Harvest Day Rally at City Hall – Green Means Permanent
Community Gardens….August 2nd – 10 or 11 am (Monday) (exact time and location TBA)

6. Hand out the Save Our Gardens flier: download
7. Spread the word. Ask your friends, family and everyone who enjoys
our gardens take each of the above steps.

    Like this city has any real green space left. These community gardens are an integral party of our community and each neighborhood. Bloomberg is a fraud. I’ve never understood why, in such a Democratic-leaning city like NYC (Democrats way outnumber Republicans in terms of voter registration in the city), we’ve had Republican mayors ever since I’ve lived here (starting with Ghouliani). And whenever this city ever does finally go with the majority of its population and vote in a “Democrat” (Ed Koch), he ends up being a Republican in sheep’s clothing.
