Fire Houston and A
Thursday, July 8th, 2010
240 East Houston Street, Avenue A and Houston Street, adjacent to the Red Square apartment tower.

Ladder companies 5, 6,7, 20, 9 and 11 deployed to the roof, several others were there in support.

Tower Ladder 9.

Ladder 11.

This report from the NY Times seems to lay the blame on the construction happening on the roof.
Firefighters’ Union: FDNY Sees Busiest Week In Decades
An excellent video shot from several different ground perspectives. I think the videographer was on a skateboard.

Wow! Go Ladder 9!

i saw the plumes of smoke from soho!
It must be those superpower specs you are wearing.
I’m so glad there were no serious injuries, though it is reported that several firefighters were treated for minor injuries and smoke inhalation.
ha. being on the 11th floor helps.
Ah, spider power as well, I knew it.
Great clear coverage. The Fire Dept. always shows great bravery.
