   that hole is shaft 31B of the Third Water Tunnel. it’s a big site because it will have connects to Water Tunnel #1.

   when construction is finished and covered over, they plan a public park for this corner.

   I saw the site being picketed for being non-union a few months ago. I knew about the tunnel, but I assumed another unnecessary hi-rise was also imminent. A park sounds cool, certainly needed in the neighborhood.
