  1. for sure! and with the cooper sq hotel right behind it, it’s starting to look like a japanese street in a video game like simcity or something.

also, i didn’t think the old building was so bad – they could have used it as a base for something interesting.

  2. do you miss the old NY?

  3. The old building was definitely no prize, but doesn’t the new one make you even a little queazy? :)

  7. those two blocks look like a launch pad for alien aircraft.

  8. Yes part of the neighborhood’s preparation for the 2012 festivities.

  11. Yeah, I’ve tried to appreciate it as a giant sculpture, but it does nothing for me. What most amazes me is how the mesh must interfere with looking out the windows. What’s up with that? Seems stupid.

  12. Totally sickening Gamma, ugliest thing Ive seen yet, astounding the kind of KRAP they build now, totally off the wall out of scale whack-job garbage like the architect was stoned on coke or something. Even worse when you look at what this area WAS like befor building as someone said- an alien launchpad next to a historic 1850 building…

  15. Yes I agree there, give it about 20 years and you’ll see it demolished as being outdate and too small or something- that worked well to destroy some the citites best landmarks, so it should work for this monstrosity too!

Or, alternatively, the mesh and facade thing will likely deteriorate and start coming apart over that time or sooner- you know how shoddy workmanship and cheap materials are today… and cost more to rectify than to demolish and build new, that also worked well in the past.
