Monday, December 1st, 2008Sirius/XM – Seriously Lame
Monday, December 1st, 2008I’m a Howard Stern addict. There, I’ve said it. I got Sirius radio because of that addiction. I’m still addicted, and I’m not likely to cancel my subscription to the one remaining satellite radio. But the merger has ravaged the music programming. Sirius had real people picking the music they liked, playing it, and telling you why they liked it. Now much of that is gone. Vin Scelsa is still there, and other favorites may be getting to shuffle their shows on other channels… maybe. But “The Loft” is nothing like “Sirius Disorder”. And from tooling up and down the 87 music channels, the prevalent philosophy at Sirious-XM now seems to be that centralized programming (computers) and playlists are cheaper than people. The same philosophy that killed broadcast radio.
