Summer Streets

This was the first Saturday of the Summer Streets program in New York City. Lots of bikers participated. Park Avenue and connecting streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park are closed to motor vehicles and open it up to people on three consecutive Saturdays in August (August 9, 16, & 23)

  3. Mulberry street, adjacent to Lafayette was jammed with the vehicles diverted from Lafayette. I wasn’t patient enough to get a good shot of that scene.

  5. Yeah, Manhattan could use a central, north-south artery for bikes. The avenues are dangerous bike territory as they stand. And going all the way to the west side bike path is impractical for the most part.
