I know there are wild parrots in Brooklyn but this might the first on the Lower East Side. It’s been squawking to itself all morning. Is it someone’s lost pet? It is very hard to see against the leafy background, I passed by it twice before I could see it. From its squawk I first thought it was a crow.

She’s ripped out all her chest feathers- is this the same species that is loose in Crooklyn? Is there someone to call to help?
I was wondering about the chest feathers, c and c. That probably indicates that it is an escaped pet right, a neurotic thing that caged birds do. Who would you call?
I don’t know- maybe look up animal rescue or something like this. Let me see if I can find any thing online-
Update, I called 311 and they put me in touch with Animal Control who took a report but said they couldn’t do anything else if the bird is able to fly.

is this near you? do you want to call?
Can it fly? Poor guy. It was good of you to call-
I called the number on the humane society website. I didn’t get to speak to a human but the options seemed mostly about how to donate. Yes he/she can fly.
Hi, I’m an admin for a group called City Parrots, and we’d love to have this added to the group!
