  3. Well, it should be depressing. New condo towers getting dropped in everywhere you look. But then, I suppose it’s pretty inevitable. No city stays the same.

  4. My theory is that they are the offspring of those people who caused the mortgage crisis but got those golden parachutes when they were fired. But it’s just my theory, trying to make sense of what seems senseless.

  5. What I don’t understand is where are all the people that can afford to live in these places coming from.

  6. Ah, now I understand, joujoubee. Golden parachutes float to the garden roofs of these glass and steel castles at sunset. We peons look from our tenement windows in awe.

Particularly fitting now that the Streit’s matzoh factory, next door to ABC No Rio, is for sale:

  13. I posted this on your other photo, but in case viewers only look at one or the other, I’ll repeat myself:

The piece becomes even more appropriate now that Streit’s matzoh factory, next door to ABC No Rio, is announcing its intent to sell the building. The price? $25 million. Now you KNOW that for that much money, it’s NOT going to be low-income or affordable housing or a community space:
