“A few months ago I told the American people I did not trade arms for hostages. My heart and my best intentions still tell me that’s true, but the facts and the evidence tell me it is not.” RONALD REAGAN – Iran Arms and Contra Aid Controversy – March 4, 1987
As the enormity of the scandal became clearer, the House and Senate appointed special Iran-Contra committees. Hearings were scheduled for 1987 and North agreed to appear only after being granted limited immunity.
North admitted he had lied to Congress and destroyed evidence. He said, “I am … not at all ashamed of any of the things that I did. I was given a mission and I tried to carry it out.” North remained adamant that he at no time acted on his own, a “loose cannon” as some in the administration claimed. – Ollie North Visit a Reminder of Lies, Scandal under Reagan – Jan 2004
Bill Maher: New rule — traitors don’t get to question my patriotism.

His most recent book, Breaking the Spell: Religion as a natural phenomenon calls for a rational examination of religion as a cultural phenomenon that has co-evolved over milennia to meet human needs. In this talk, which followed the presentation by Pastor Rick Warren, he takes issue with some of Warren’s claims in The Purpose-Driven Life. (Recorded February 2006 in Monterey, CA.
The Way Things Go – A lengthy (26 minute), and dangerous looking (It’s full of strange chemical reactions, flames and fireworks) video of a Rube Goldberg device. There are several dissolve transitions in it, which makes this kind of a cheat, but it is very cool anyways.
There is a short appended section showing some kids doing a Rube Goldberg project in school. That segment is what, for some reason, shows up in the image above.
In this video Sayed Kotb: radical Islamist , and Leo Strauss: neocon guru, philosophically walk hand in hand.
According to Shadia Drury, who teaches politics at the University of Calgary, Strauss believed that “those who are fit to rule are those who realize there is no morality and that there is only one natural right – the right of the superior to rule over the inferior.” Leo Strauss’ Philosophy of Deception
Prominent current day Straussians include: Andrew Sullivan, Elliott Abrams, Alan Keyes, Richard Perle, Bill Kristol, and Irving Kristol.
