Lampost Art
Friday, August 25th, 2006Doesn’t really fit into the unauthorized street art category, as it is one of a series of authorized lampost sculptures that surround Tompkins Square Park in Manhattan’s East Village. They have been up there, largely unoticed because of their height, since sometime in the Eighties. Anyone know who the artist is?

damn! since the 80s?
Yeah, I’m pretty sure I have some photos of them from back then, to date it more accurately, but they have been there at least for a pretty damn long time. There used to be several of them. The last time I looked three were left. I think they originally had some painted detail on them, now this one is lampost silver. If celso could get up that high, maybe his would last as long.
we’re gonna have to start a fund to get celso a cherry-picker.
In Celso’s case it should be a cherry putter.
