Greg Palast – NYC – Booksigning
Friday, June 16th, 2006I was sitting about six rows back in the audience, this is zoomed pretty far in. I’m glad the light was enough for my camera’s image stabilization to kick in.
This is at the Chelsea Barnes and Noble. He’s promoting his new book,
ARMED MADHOUSE -
Who’s afraid of Osama Wolf?
China floats, Bush Sinks;
The Scheme to Steal ‘08,
No Child’s Behind Left
And Other Dispatches from the Front Lines of the Class War.

I have a shot of him wearing his signature reporter’s hat, but it is a bit blurry as I snapped it before the auto-focus locked. Every time I’ve seen him he’s done the entrance schtick of doffing his hat to reveal his bald pate. His main publicity photos show him with his hat on so it is a bit of a revelation the first time you see him.
The space this Barnes and Noble uses for the author’s podium is interesting. The authors are on display in the window. People peer in to see who it is gesticulating, and see the audience staring back in their direction. They then get sheepish and move on.
The chart Greg is holding up is the rejection of vote by race in Cuyahoga County in Ohio in 2004. Black votes cast but not counted, 14.4%, white votes cast but not counted 1.6%.
