Woolworth’s Building and War Planes
Thursday, May 25th, 2006These are prop planes but earlier in the morning my adrenalin got pumped from the sound of low flying jets. Yeah that’s the sound we New Yorkers really appreciate. Especially coincident with sirens. I google newsed military jets and nyc and fortunately came up with a story about Fleet Week. I wasn’t quick enough with my camera to get a shot of the jets but these planes circled over Manhattan for about an hour. View Large
The jets flying over earlier were the Blue Angels, the Navy’s stunt flyers. The colorfully painted C-130 Hercules is called “Fat Albert.” Thank you dmansouri for the identification.

these flew past my terrace this morning along with some jets
Yeah, I saw those jets too, but I wasn’t quick enough with the camera.
Ha! Yeah, those jets sounded like they were right outside my window. And lo and behold I take a gander, and they were pretty damn close.
By the time I strung myself together and got my camera, the jets were flying considerably farther. I got some shots, but they didn’t come too good. I still might post.
Thanks for the info in your note dmansouri.
They were right over your apartment Irena, they flew over three times. I saw them twice from my window, but didn’t get to my roof until afterwards. Dmansouri identifies the colorfully painted one as a part of the Blue Angels the Navy’s air show stunt flyers.
When I heard the sound, it wierded me out. First, I put on the radio. The next time I heard the sound, I made it to the window, and the jets appeared to be flying closely over the new condo they’re building across the street (the one that you take photos of to torture me, heh heh)…By the time I got my camera they were further away, and yes, some directly above but much higher.
that’s a rude awakening. def would have freaked my out a little.
Yeah, it totally pissed me off. I mean what is the first thing you think of when jets are flying so low over Manhattan. The first time I heard them I didn’t know what kind of jets they were. The second time I saw that they were military jets flying in close formation, so I had more of an idea what was going on, but crap what fricking arrogance.
scary…
ok so you know New Yorkers are probably pretty sensitive overall to low flying planes now 2 big ass war planes flying low around Ground Zero… Who’s the genius who thought that was a good idea…
idiots
Don’t care what the stupid situation is, blame the idiot in chief and your chances are good of being correct.
