Theater Uploaded for the Guess Where NYC Flickr group. I’ll identify it here as soon as they guess it, which should be shortly.

From Niznoz: “It’s the Metro theatre on Broadway and 99th. It recently closed, again, and while the outside is protected as a landmark, the concern in the neighborhood is that it’s going to be gutted and turned into a supermarket. It’s a Deco classic.”

  1. It’s the Metro theatre on Broadway and 99th. It recently closed, again, and while the outside is protected as a landmark, the concern in the neighborhood is that it’s going to be gutted and turned into a supermarket. It’s a Deco classic.

  2. Yeah that whole neighborhood is wracked with construction. This crane is right next to the theater.

  3. And there’s another building going up across the street. Feh.

  4. Yeah, it’s a huge unphotogenic, noisy pit. I put your observations about the Metro on my blog.

  6. My pleasure. You saved me the trouble of doing the research myself. :)
