Bellevue, at the corner of 29th and First. And though the signs outside the building are remarkably uninformative, according to NY Songlines, this bleak building is The Children’s Center.
Correction: this is actually between 30th and 29th Street. And according to NY Songlines it is: “Bellevue Men’s Shelter – Block 9400 E 30th): Also known as the 30th Street Shelter, this Victorian pile houses elderly and mentally ill homeless men.” This is actually what I thought it was. I originally took the photo because the paintings had the look of something done by a mental patient. Open up the larger version and look into the disturbing eyes of the koala. But because I misremembered the cross street, I went with my online research. Cripes! |
