Caryatids on St. Mark’s Place. I must have passed these beauties a thousand times and never noticed them.

| St. Mark’s Place is always bustling with distractions and if you are walking on south side of the street they are pretty much hidden from view by the vendor stalls and awnings. |
Spending Their Blood
Tuesday, May 31st, 2005Memorial Day/Praise bravery, seek forgiveness
“In exchange for our uniformed young people’s willingness to offer the gift of their lives, civilian Americans owe them something important: It is our duty to ensure that they never are called to make that sacrifice unless it is truly necessary for the security of the country. Conyers Petition on Downing Memo
Friday, May 27th, 2005Congressman John Conyers (D-MI) seeks to amass 100,000 signatures from U.S. citizens calling on President Bush for more answers about a 2002 meeting during which a senior British official said intelligence was “being fixed” to present a case for the Iraq war – Raw Story
The memo, official minutes of a 2002 meeting between British Prime Minister Tony Blair, members of British intelligence MI-6 and various members of the Bush administration, noted that MI-6 director Richard Dearlove said, “Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy.”
