722 Broadway

722 Broadway, between Washington Place and Waverly Place. I haven’t been able to find anything about this building on the web but it has a pretty impressive facade.
Iron decoration over the entrance.
Notice the little structure on the roof. I wonder what goes on in there.

  1. The structure at top the top part of the 9th floors duplex. I believe it’s a bedroom.

  2. Thanks, Eric.

  3. I believe this is a multiple lot building ALSO known as

    Broadway, Nos 718-720

If so, then it is listed as an 11 story building built in 1906
50x 125.5 3/4 Built by Josephine Macdonald. It doesn’t seem 50 feet wide but that may be the LOT size. If not then it’s the building on the right of it in the photo but I think that is taller than 11 floors.

  4. One other possibility since I now see from the air view that the building on the right IS 11 stories and 50 feet wide- why 722 doesnt appear in the records- it’s MAIN registered address might be on the next street.
It goes through to the other side which seems to have a wider facade. If you ever remember to note the address on THAT end of the place I’ll look it up for ya, bet it’s listed at that address instead.

  5. On the NE corner of Broadway and Great Jones st you’ll find a building about 12 stories high, check out the huge lion heads under the rooftop projecting cornice- there’s one between each pair of windows on the corners, along with some other real neat looking keystones about 2 floows lower. Looks small from the street but the stuff is massive- refrigerator sized.

Here’s an instamatic pic of the building from about 1973
