East Tenth Street

iloveyou

I’m not much of a fan of spray paint tagging, but I am a sucker for elegant line, and it is hard to argue with the message. Whoever did this, managed to tag a huge area of lower Manhattan, overnight I think. On Sunday I saw at least 20 of them. The “Find the hidden city” stencil has the smell of a gallery organized event. Houston and Essex Streets.

Tower over the East Village

Looking west on East Seventh Street, looking up to the big chunk of sky stolen by the Astor Place “Sculpture for Living.” They are placing the tinted windows on the lower floors right now. This building is going to radically change the feel of this neighborhood.

WLIB / Air America

WLIB the home station of Air America Radio, is inserting local content, traffic, weather, station IDs etc. on the hour and half-hour. I’m not sure if there are more commercials, but I think the breaks are coming at different intervals. Maybe they are setting things up to make themselves more syndication friendly. AA’s original plan was to buy stations, and have control over the whole broadcast day. They are now in 37 cities as well as XM and Sirius Satellite.

Al Franken is floating a new catch phrase: “It’s the incompetence, Stupid!” Franken’s show has been pretty funny of late. I especially like the shows they do before live audiences.

American Conservative Magazine Endorses Kerry

Conservative commentator and former Republican presidential candidate Pat Buchanan’s American Conservative magazine has endorsed Kerry - “Bush has behaved like a caricature of what a right-wing president is supposed to be, and his continuation in office will discredit any sort of conservatism for generations. The launching of an invasion against a country that posed no threat to the U.S., the doling out of war profits and concessions to politically favored corporations, the financing of the war by ballooning the deficit to be passed on to the nation’s children, the ceaseless drive to cut taxes for those outside the middle class and working poor: It is as if Bush sought to resurrect every false 1960s-era, left-wing cliche about predatory imperialism and turn it into administration policy.”
