One of two military helicopter I saw, cruising low over the East Village. If you get really close to the screen, you can see it is chock full of Republicans in cowboy hats. You can tell they are Republicans because they are also wearing rubber elephant noses.

Peace Over the WTC

Peace signs in the window of a building overlooking the World Trade Center
site.

The WTC site. It’s very eery being here. I watched both towers go down from my Lower East Side roof. And I breathed the acrid mix of burned plastic, metal and death for months afterwards. It wasn’t until after the new year that I could no longer taste it, or feel it in the back of my mouth. Everyone who lived in the city, the entire city, during that time can still call-up that evil smell to their consciousness.

My guess is that the Republicans chose NYC, to try to exploit this tragedy once again. I’m glad that the people in that building (on the far left in the above 3-photo pano) have denied them one angle for their photo-ops.

Update: This building is owned by Russel Simmons. Photos and story about how this project came about.
