Bush No

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004
You’ll have to take my word for this one. A motorized sailboat with a banner saying “Bush No.” It was reversed from my position and I was peering at it through binoculars, and my dyslexia was kicking in, so maybe it said the more popular “No Bush.” Or it could be they are W supporters and it said “Bush On,” but I don’t think so. They must have been aiming for the Repugs doing the tourist favorite, The Circle Line. Monday on the Hudson River near 100th Street.

“I don’t think you can win it,” Bush replied. “But I think you can create conditions so that those who use terror as a tool are less acceptable in parts of the world.”

Light Up the Sky

Monday, August 30th, 2004

Light Up the Sky tonight, dusk to dawn, “to silently express our sorrow over all the innocent deaths this war has caused.” Basically put a light in your window, if it faces the street, or wander the city with flashlights or glowsticks. As long as you keep to the sidewalks this action requires no permit. lightupthesky.org
