I promised these Tompkins Square squirrels, that I’d bring a treat the next time I took their picture. I came by the other day with organic sunflower seeds. They sniffed them, and looked at me like I was crazy. I came back today with raw almonds, and got universal approval. I was going to try and get them to eat out of my hand, when a guy, who had had his finger mauled by one of this same crew a few weeks ago, warned me against it. So I dropped some almonds at my feet. They gathered around and looked like they were going to climb up my legs to get the rest, every time I looked away from them to talk to the guy warning me about squirrel bites.
